Lockdown shopping for a special occasion!

As the country grinds to a standstill, many businesses in the fashion and accessories industry will struggle to survive, even after the current situation is eased.

While non-essential shop premises are currently closed, online shopping has seen a boom in orders as those staying at home take to their computers to shop.  And there are bargains galore – particularly in the fashion sector, as retailers struggle to sell their stock before their new designs arrive in time for summer.

We all love a bargain, so with weddings, race days and parties cancelled for the foreseeable future, fashion stores have some fabulous outfits at massively discounted prices. And since many of us will have lost or received reduced salaries, but want to plan and buy our fabulous new outfits for when some semblance of normality returns, bargain hunting has become much more important.

Browsing the net, we have found some great bargains if you’re planning an outfit for a special occasion, and we’ve matched this one to our gorgeous mother of the bride/groom hatinator we have in store.  While we don’t guarantee they are a perfect match (in our previous blog on matching hat colours to outfits – buy a bobbin of cotton and send it to us and we will tell you if it matches, or suggest an alternative).

I set up the Simply Devine Hat Shop in 2004 and have been running the bricks and mortar high street shop in Tadcaster and our online hat shop since the early days. We were 17 years old last week!. That's a hat long time for a hat shop. We are nestled in the brewery town of Tadcaster where beer is brewed, ie Samuel Smiths, John Smiths.

It's been a very very busy hat year, and to celebrate we have once again been shortlisted for The Nation's Wedding Awards (to be held in Birmingham in November). We have been selected as a Finalist too for The English Wedding Awards in 2025!!! How hat exciting is that! We will be celebrating our 21st birthday in 2025, so hopefully we will have lots to celebrate! A great big thank you to all our hat customers all over the world, including all our local customers who obviously know where the Simply Devine Hat Shop is in Tadcaster. We have been very hat blessed for nearly 21 years!!!
