WINTER WEDDING FASHION UPDATE 2024

If you follow fashion, you will have noticed that in recent weeks, we’ve had all of the famous fashion weeks – Milan, New York, Paris and London – showcasing their designs for next Spring/Summer 2024.

While designers tend to showcase the weird and wacky, we can always pick up pointers about colour palettes for the following season.

Here at Simply Devine we always try to create beautiful hats, hatinators and fascinators to mirror the colours of the clothes in the shops which our mother of the bride or grooms, or race goers, will choose to wear for their special occasions.

Standing proud on a slim band, this shade is up to the minute for today’s mother of the bride/groom/

However, if your event is more immediate, you will be looking at Autumn shades – currently mushroom, olive oil, mustard, shades of peach/orange and white, with touches of magenta (which is the colour of the year for 2023), and royal blue.

These shades are mostly neutral, so for a winter wedding, we would suggest adding a pop of colour to bring the outfit to life. So, if you have a pale peach outfit, add a toning shade of burnt orange or terracotta to bring it to life.

For mushroom – you can add almost any bright shade to lift it – try a magenta or lime green hatinator with a matching pashmina to stand out.

Our latest signature collection of mother of the bride/groom hatinators come in pastel shades, but we have added a circle of diamante around the crown, or a swirl of beads to the sinamay curls.  Other shades include a deep teal green or wine, as well as the ever-popular silvers and pastel pinks, blues and creams.

And if your event is in mid-winter, and you are wearing a dark woollen coat, match your bright coloured hat or hatinator to a pashmina draped gracefully over one shoulder and a bright handbag. We have drawers full of coloured pashminas to match our hats – and they can be worn as a bright scarf for everyday, or as a shawl for cool summer days or nights out.

Christmas or winter weddings in the snow can look amazing – particularly if the bridesmaids have rich jewelled velvet outfits.  However, who wants to stand around in heels and shiver in a snow storm? Matching an umbrella or beautiful fur shrug in your chosen pop of colour to your winter coat will keep you snug until you get to the wedding breakfast. I have a lovely bright red woollen winter coat, which I often accessories with a white faux fur shrug for a festive feel.

And if you’re buying an outfit for a 2024 wedding, colours to watch out for are apricot crush, mint/aqua and chambray blue, as well as brilliant white (but the latter NEVER for wedding guests!)

Here at Simply Devine, we can confidently say we have just about every colour under the sun in our destination shop.  So, whether you’re on trend with the latest palettes, or you’re sticking with your own personal favourites – and that’s perfectly ok, since you know what suits you – we will have something for you.
