COOL DRESSING FOR AN AUTUMN WEDDING

Wedding hats and fascinators

While the meteorologists are teasing us with the prospect of an Indian Summer, we have yet to see any evidence of a glorious end of summer.  And as is with the case of late summer weddings, it is always difficult to plan your mother of the bride/groom hat and outfit.

Will you need a jacket? Will you need umbrellas? Will it be chilly?  We know that summer weddings obviously may have the same issue, but the great British weather becomes more unpredictable by September.

We have a collection of mother of the bride/groom outfits which have long sleeves, but if your heart is set on a sleeveless dress but you want to stave off the Autumn chill, how about draping a pashmina over your shoulder or fashioning it into a loose bolero? Then once you’re inside at the wedding breakfast, it’s easy to take off to show off your beautiful dress.

We also have a rainbow drawer full of beautiful cashmere and silk mix pashminas to match just about every shade – in soft pastels and bright jewel colours.

Autumn shades include beautiful emerald and forest greens, rust and cinnamon shades mixed with peaches and cream, deep magentas to complement pale pinks, and dark navy which will enhance just about any colour – pink, yellow, emerald, orange and shades of pale blue.

As with any colour palette, the shades can vary enormously, so if you’re visiting our destination wedding hat shop in Tadcaster, please bring along your wedding outfit and all the accessories you plan to wear.  If buying online and you want to match exactly, send us a bobbin of cotton or skein of embroidery silk – or even a swatch of your material if having your outfit specially made – and we can tell you if it matches.

We are always here to help – our aim is to make your feel and look a million dollars.  After all – those photographs will last a lifetime.
