WINTER RACE DAY CHIC

Hats and fascinators

With the St Leger looming in September, it’s safe to say that we can say goodbye to Bardot dresses and thigh-high splits for race days.

But it doesn’t mean the end of looking fabulous at the races, though it does take a little more thought – and there are still many winter race meetings throughout the chillier months.

There are some fabulous winter coats in jewel colours to keep you snug.  I love the expression “Dopamine Dressing” – vibrant colours to lift your mood and keep everyone smiling.  And if the weather is fine but chilly, you can still wear those gorgeous jewel pillbox hats to match. Just remember that sinemay hats do not survive in the rain!

The country set, however, often stick with their traditional dark coats, but we have some lovely winter fedora and trilby hats trimmed with petersham or feathers to keep you looking glamorous.

Camel and mustard are useful colours, since they’re fairly neutral and is probably the best shade to tone well with other colours.  Cream is lovely too, but notoriously difficult to keep clean, especially at a muddy race meeting.

Our beautiful faux fur hats in cream, navy blue, truffle and leopard, or huffs in truffle, sand, dusky pink, white or steel grey are the perfect accessory.
