BUCKINGHAM PALACE DRESS CODE

We love to help dress our customers when they walk into our shop looking for a headpiece to wear to a very special occasion.

While most of our customers are mothers of the bride or groom, wedding or royal garden party guests or race-day goers, we love to see our customers who are heading for Buckingham Palace because either they or their family members are to receive a birthday honours investiture from a member of the royal family.

Formal dress is required for such prestigious events, and we were lucky enough recently to help Shelagh look fabulous while her husband received his OBE.

She wore a beautifully cut navy blue dress and coat, but with our help, she wore a pretty emerald green pillbox hatinator, teamed with an emerald bag and an emerald green pashmina scarf.

And Elizabeth wore our stunning structured black designer hatinator for her visit to Buckingham Palace, teamed with a black wool coat and black patent shoes.

The dress code states that men can wear military uniform, morning dress or lounge suits, while women’s clothing must be knee length, with no low necklines. Ladies’ fascinators should be small and discreet.

Undoubtedly a visit to Buckingham Palace is probably a once-in-a-lifetime event and anyone attending would want to look their very best.

Liz can help tie your beautiful outfit together – we have a huge collection of hats, hatinators and fascinators, as well as stunning pashminas in a variety of beautiful colours.
