Colour trends for 2021

As we approach the Autumn/Winter 2020 season, now is the time we will be thinking about colour trends for mothers of the bride or groom in 2021 – when hopefully weddings will return to normal – and our new creative hat designs (which are still under wraps!)

We have seen a lot of vibrant greens this year, but next year, the colour will be a little more subtle, moving towards a pale sage green, moss or asparagus. We already have hats, hatinators and fascinators in emerald, sea green, mint green and lime green from the current year. New shades will vary depending on retailers, so look for complementing accessories, rather than trying to match exactly.

Cream, beige, latte, buff, almond and champagne will tone beautifully with this shade, and at Simply Devine, we have several styles and shades to suit.

Also set to be popular are shades of blue.  Always a winner, 2021 shades will be dusky shades of pale air force blue, lilacy blue hyacinth, and a pale royal blue.  While we have every shade of blue under the sun in our bespoke shop, including cobalt, baby blue, pale blue and bluebell, if we can’t match exactly, silver and grey will complement sapphire, peacock, denim, sky, ocean and teal.

Deep mauve is a step away from some of the blue hues, and our new collection of headwear to match Ann Balon occasion wear offers some pretty shades to complement mauve, dusky lilac, mulberry, grape and lilac palettes. Our stunning blackcurrant jam statement hatinator (below) will tone beautifully with silver or grey.

And as grey is set for a come-back in 2021, this is one colour you can have fun with.  Beautiful vibrant pink accessories – hot pink, fuchsia, lipstick, rose and magenta or hot coral will give a perfect pop of colour, as will the bright blues of cobalt, royal and bluebell. Add in our various shades of orange or coral and you’re onto a race day winner in the style stakes.

We have several styles in silver or grey, but as we’ve said before, beware of wearing too much silver if your hair is grey or you will look too pale.  Grey and silver provide a perfect backdrop for virtually any bright colour.
